All my fic, in a nice and tidy list, organized by 'verse and series and type, in the order of the date published (generally the newest stories are at the top of the lists).

If you're looking for just Gen stories...stop.

You aren't going to find a lot of them here. I 'ship Peter/Neal, Peter/Elizabeth, and Peter/Elizabeth/Neal. Not all of my stories are explicit, and in fact, most of them aren’t, but you are going to find a Peter/Neal, or more likely, Peter/Elizabeth/Neal relationship at the core of the story.

Also - I hope you like angst and emotional hurt/comfort - because that's what I seem to write most often. Occasionally, you'll find some casefic and some humor and crack, and rarely, fluff.

You should also be an adult, and capable of understanding adult themes and issues.

These are fanworks, make for my own enjoyment and to share with others. I don't have any ownership interests in White Collar or its characters.

Due to the entry size constraints imposed by LiveJournal, the actual list is hosted at my account on Dreamwidth, and all of the cuts below will take you to that entry.

Danger’verse

This is a series that started out as a single ficlet, and I had my arm twisted ever so gently into making it an on-going series. It’s basically a shaggy dog story – wandering in and out of canon, in and out of the Paladin ‘verse at will. There are almost 2 years worth of prompts on the WC100 comm, and I may try to keep this going for the duration. The Danger’verse series is also published as a single entry with multiple chapters on AO3.

Run the Con, or in this case runthecon, is back in the game (and Mozzie is most pleased). sinfulslasher has put together a new community site, with new rules and new co-mods (the ever-present pair, theatregirl7299 and yours truly).

In simplest terms, RTC is a flash writing challenge where you (1) sign up to participate, (2) get tagged to write a short fic to the prompt left for you and (3) do it within twenty-four hours of the time that the prompt was left.

That's it. Well, you first have to read the rules, which are found here and make sure that you're set for LJ pingbacks or have the comm tracked (you either incessantly check your f-list or you get emails when there's a new post to the comm).

For the first round, pretty much any genre goes. Kink, H/C, gen, casefic, het, slash, romance, tropefic, idfic, you name it. Everything but RPS/RPF (even AU stuff).

Some important dates:

Sign Ups: August 1st through August 31
Challenge: September 1st through...well, until every participant has had the chance to play - there are no limits to signups.

I know I've missed this challenge and I think a lot of other White Collar fans have, too. It's the chance to write something short and sweet and to the point, instead of those epics we all seem to be focused on these days.

If you want to signal boost, you can find the code and the banner here

Come on and join the fun. Let's Run the Con!

Title: Wisdom Lies in Wait
Author: elrhiarhodan
Fandom: White Collar
Rating: PG-13
Characters/Pairings: Neal Caffrey, Peter Burke, Elizabeth Burke, Peter/Neal, Peter/Elizabeth, eventual Peter/Elizabeth/Neal
Spoilers: None. This story takes place in a universe where Season 6 never happened.
Warnings/Enticements/Triggers: None
Word Count: ~5500
Beta Credit: sinfulslasher
Summary: Nearly four years have passed since Peter told the Powers that Be that if they didn't release Neal Caffrey from his sentence, he was quitting the FBI. They took him at his word and Neal was freed. Although Neal no longer works for the FBI, Peter remains his closest friend and more than that, he's the one person Neal wants but believes he can never have. For his part, Peter is almost unbearably proud of Neal, who has embraced the life of a solid and productive citizen. He loves Neal but won't even allow himself to dream of anything more than friendship It's a good thing that Elizabeth is the sensible one in this relationship.

A/N: A gift for my very dearest friend, kanarek13, because she deserves every wonderful thing in the universe. This was not supposed to be a story about love and longing. It was not supposed to be filled with angst and pain. It was supposed to be a silly riff on a newly acquired tool for Peter's household chores. Something happened along the way.

This week's entry for thefridayfive wants to know all about our morning food choices.

1) If you had to eat nothing but CEREAL for a week, what types would you eat?
Probably cooked oatmeal - steel cut - with butter and salt.

2) Have you ever bought candy/cereal/snack JUST for the PRIZE inside?
Maybe when I was nine and collected Wacky Packs.

3) What is the earliest you have ever been drunk?
Once, at 11 AM. But I was in college and probably TSTL.

4) Name one thing you have taken apart and could NOT put back together.
A mechanical travel alarm clock. My mother was pissed.

5) Three musketeers or three stooges?
Three musketeers, of course!

If you want to play along, here's the code for this week's entry for thefridayfive. Post your answers on your journal and then link back to this entry.

Today, U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch, announced:

“Following the Supreme Court’s historic decision in Obergefell that every couple has the same right to participate in the institution of marriage, whether the partners are of the same-sex or opposite sexes, I directed Justice Department staff to work with the agencies to ensure that the ruling be given full effect across the federal government. Thanks to their leadership and the quick work of the Social Security Administration and the Department of Veterans Affairs, today I am proud to announce that the critical programs for veterans and elderly and disabled Americans, which previously could not give effect to the marriages of couples living in states that did not recognize those marriages, will now provide federal recognition for all marriages nationwide.

The agencies are currently working towards providing guidance to implement this change in law. Just over a year ago, Attorney General Holder announced that agencies across the federal government had implemented the Supreme Court’s Windsor decision by treating married same-sex couples the same as married opposite-sex couples to the greatest extent possible under the law as it then stood. With the Supreme Court’s new ruling that the Constitution requires marriage equality, we have now taken the further step of ensuring that all federal benefits will be available equally to married couples in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and the US Territories. The department will continue to work across the administration to fulfill our commitment to equal treatment for all Americans, including equal access to the benefits of marriage that the Obergefell decision guarantees.”

High-fives all the way around, I finally finished my RBB commitments (other than the one won't be finished under the parameters of the challenge round *hangs head in shame*).

I have plans to run another promptfest, and had been thinking about starting it this weekend. But I'm going to be out and about through the weekend and into next week, so I'll get that started when my life settles back into its normal paces.

But in the meanwhile, I would love to do one of my favorite writing memes of all time:

Give me an A/U and I'll write a few paragraphs about a story that I may or may not write.

Fandoms are White Collar, White Collar, and yes, White Collar. My parameters for A/Us are very broad. Basically, I consider any situation which is outside of canon roles (e.g., Neal as criminal/CI and Peter as FBI agent) to be alternate universe. And even then, depending on the situation, there can be A/Us like that. However, OT3 is, to me, canon.

Have fun and prompt away!

Marriage equality is now the law of the land!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

From Justice Kennedy's decision:

No union is more profound than marriage, for it embodies the highest ideals of love, fidelity, devotion, sacrifice, and family. In forming a marital union, two people become something greater than once they were. As some of the petitioners in these cases demonstrate, marriage embodies a love that may endure even past death. It would misunderstand these men and women to say they disrespect the idea of marriage. Their plea is that they do respect it, respect it so deeply that they seek to find its fulfillment for themselves. Their hope is not to be condemned to live in loneliness, excluded from one of civilization’s oldest institutions. They ask for equal dignity in the eyes of the law. The Constitution grants them that right.

It should be noted with great joy that this decision comes forty-six years, less two days, after the Stonewall Riots started the Gay Rights Movement.

This week's entry for thefridayfive wants to know all about our childhood pastimes.

1. What is something that you loved doing as a kid that you hate doing now? Getting dirty. Seriously, when I was 7 or 8, I was the dirtiest little kid you could imagine. Covered in dust and grime in the summertime, I used to play in the garden, I used to actually garden. Hate doing that now – the thought of getting dirty really grosses me out. When I was older, I used to love going to the mall – that was the absolutely height of excitement. Now, I can't think of a place I less enjoy shopping.

2. What is something that you hated doing as a kid that you love doing now? Getting up early, especially on the weekends. I never got up early – for many years when I lived on my own, my dad (who was still working at the time, and a seriously early riser), would call and make sure I got up to go to work. Even until I moved into House Wonderful, I was a late sleeper, generally not getting up on the weekends until noon. Now, a late morning for me is 8 AM, even on a Sunday.

3. Do you still play (in the childhood sense of the word)? No. I create, but I don't "play". My sense of whimsy is expressed in my creativity.

4. If not, what is stopping you? I'm not sure.

5. If so, what do you like to play? Again, since I don't "play" – I don't know what I'd do.

If you want to play along, here's the code for this week's entry for thefridayfive. Post your answers on your journal and then link back to this entry.

Found this on browngirl's LJ, but slightly modified regarding the tagging:

"List 5 things that make you happy and pass this on to 10 people"

1. House Wonderful. Seriously, how can this not be Number One on my list. It's more than my home, it's a vessel for all my dreams, the wellspring of my creativity, a place where people I love gather and share their happiness with me.

2. Fandom. Yes, White Collar fandom is shrinking and too many people that I've come to call friend have wandered away, but it's still a source of great happiness for me.

3. Music. As I've gotten older, I've gotten pickier about what I listen to, and I tend to fall into a comfort – listening to the same album or artist over and over. But then there are time that I open iTunes and just randomly click on something and I think, yeah, wow. There was a good reason I bought that.

4. Creativity. Even as a small child, I've always loved making things. Art was my favorite thing in school, despite the rather awful art teacher. I actually don't have much drawing talent, but I can express myself in many other ways. Jewelry, sewing, papercrafting, and of course, writing.

5. Minions. Okay – that's very specific. But they specifically make me happy. Glances over at the little Minion stuffies that came all the way from Tchermanie.

I'm tagging:

sinfulslasher
theatregirl7299
hoosierbitch
lumosed_quill
pooh_collector
aragarna
kanarek13
tjs_whatnot
miri_thompson
ivorysilk

But everyone else can play, too. Come on, don't be shy.

I know a lot of people had a lot of fun with the promptfest I ran on my journal last February and I was wondering if anyone out there would be interested in participating in another round?

I was thinking about everyone contributing prompts from their various bingo cards, maybe. Don't know how that would actually work.

I do know that my brain's kind of dry at the moment and I was thinking of either a promptfest or a round of "A/U's I haven't yet written" or maybe asking for prompts for any of my existing 'verses. But if people are in the mood to write, or are looking to fill bingo squares or want to jump start their Big Bangs, maybe a promptfest might be the way to go.

What say you?

Why do I do this to myself? Because I'm a sheep?

trapped together
caught in a robbery
de-age
hostile climate
lacerations / knife wounds
self-harm
confession in desperate situation
learning to be loved
alien abduction
bites
shipwrecked
coma
WILD CARD
loss of job / income
CPR / rescue breathing
possession / mind control
first transformation
Stockholm syndrome
minor illness or injury
atonement
undeserved reputation
job-related trauma
scars
loss of vision
pneumonia

I'm actually very pleased with this card. For the last few rounds I've played, I've gotten mostly the same stale set of prompts and was very reluctant go give it another go. But my brain's kind of dry and inspiration's thin on the ground, so I thought I'd give it another try.

Your ideas and prompts will be most deeply welcome. White Collar, of course - almost any ship can sail in my fandom, but you know I'm hardcore Peter/Neal. I've been dipping my toes into MCU, but mostly CA:TWS and Avengers.

Been thinking about doing another three-sentence meme, or maybe the A/Us I haven't written meme to get me started. What say you?

This week's entry for thefridayfive wants to know all about our sensory pleasures.

1. What is your favorite scent or odor? Chicken soup that's been simmering for hours, or onions being sautéed or a cake baking. All things that remind me of the best times of my childhood.
2. What is your favorite taste? Chocolate frosting, but the homemade kind made with butter, not vegetable oil.
3. What is your favorite sound? A massed choir singing its heart out.
4. What is your favorite texture? Old velvet – like the ears of my childhood pets when they rested their heads on my knee.
5. What is your favorite thing to look at? Happy people no matter what age.

Yesterday, the ban on marriage equality was rescinded and both opposite-sex and same-sex couples were allowed to apply for marriage licenses. Guam is the first U.S. territory to recognize the rights of all its residents to marry.

In April, Guam’s attorney general, Elizabeth Barrett-Anderson, directed the territory to begin processing same-sex marriage applications, but officials, backed by the governor, Eddie Calvo, refused. Calvo sued, and he was represented by an outside firm because the attorney general disagreed with his lawsuit.

The ban was struck down on Friday, but the judge, Frances M Tydingco-Gatewood, gave the territory a couple of days to prepare the marriage applications.

Gay couples will be able to marry five days after applying for a license, but the waiting period can be waived.

My dearest theatregirl7299 tagged me for Ze Challange Grande. Seven lines from the seventh page of a WIP.

This one is for artwork by the awesometastic kanarek13's art for the RBB, which is so overdue that I should be buried upto to my chin in a pit of fireants.

There was something so utterly delicious about this situation. Peter had always enjoyed the pursuit, but right now – with Neal pinned against the cold, hard concrete, feeling him quiver with barely suppressed excitement – he almost wanted to let him go, just so he could chase Neal again. No, so he could capture him again.

He'd been looking forward to the day Neal got out of prison. It was marked in red on his calendar and imprinted in his mind. Peter had figured he'd give the Summoner a six-week lead. Let him gather his forces, set his defenses, make his plans. Put his pieces into play. And then he'd be after him, again, because he enjoyed the hunt as much as he enjoyed the capture.

It seemed like had always been like this.

I'm not tagging any individual writers, but I urge everyone on my flist who hasn't already been tagged to participate. WE NEED MOAR FICCAGE!!!!!!!!!

It's been almost fourteen months since I started posting Return and Rebuild the Desolate Places. There were two long hiatuses where I struggled with finding the words to move the story forward and then to complete it. I know along the way I've lost readers as people have fallen away from the White Collar fandom, or had just gotten fed up with the delays.

But it's done and today I am posting the final (and lengthy) chapter and the epilogue. I'd thought about holding onto the Epilogue until next week, but I decided against it. The story is complete and while the chapters were intended to be read in separate doses, the epilogue wraps the story up in a way I hope everyone who reads it finds satisfying.

It also has the most exquisite artwork by kanarek13.

Thank you to everyone who has stuck with me and this story. You have my deepest appreciation.

Yesterday, the Republic of Ireland went to the polls to vote on a referendum to establish marriage equality, and right now, the only question is, how great was the margin by which it passed.

Here, in America, we talk about how quickly marriage equality has been adopted by the states - 36 in the last five years - but until 1993, homosexuality was a criminal act in the Republic of Ireland. Gay men and women were subject to the same Victorian-era laws used to prosecute Oscar Wilde in England.

Today, the Republic of Ireland becomes the first nation in the world to establish Marriage Equality by popular vote. Let's all raise a glass and toast the Old Sod and wear a bit of green (along with all the other colors of the rainbow) with pride.

This week's questions on thefridayfive are all about the good ol' days and the things we don't do so much anymore.

1. When was the last time you wrote a check at a store? I can't remember. I basically write about 15 checks a year. Most of them to my gardner. I keep hoping he'll start taking PayPal.

2. When was the last time you looked up something in a book? A few weeks ago, I was writing a historical A/U and checked out something in The Timetables of History. Books are still my friends, although I don't have so many of them anymore. Like real life friends, come to think of it.

3. When was the last time you used a dial phone? I can't remember. My household went to touchtone in the early 1980s, and I may have taken a rotary phone with me when I had my first apartment, but that's a long, long time ago.

4. When was the last time you played cards with actual paper cards? A few months ago, with a friend - we played gin. I actually enjoy playing real cards with real people. I love the who act of shuffling and dealing. Back in the Dark Ages, when I was in college, I carried a deck of cards with me and played gin with friends between classes.

5. When was the last time you talked to a stranger? This morning. The repairman who came to fix the stalled burner on my range.

Sigh...

My life is not my own and it's going to be a few weeks until I can lay claim to it again. Work has been insane - consistent twelve hour days, plus at least one weekend day for most of the weekends over the past few months.

It's not a bad craziness, but it's craziness that doesn't leave me with much functioning brainspace for fannish activities, like writing.

Now, I can hear some of you say, "But Elr, what about those MCU MMOM fics?". Those were early morning efforts, taking about twenty minutes to write, tops. And that well has run dry, too.

Which means that my Reverse Big Bang stories are late. My first is supposed to post on the 15th and the second on the 30th, and my pinch hit in mid-June. I've been in touch with my artists (well, not my pinch hit artist because I can still make that one), but my others, as well as my co-mods and they've granted extensions.

My health is suffering (BG is high from the stress, stomach issues, hair falling out even faster), and when this is done, I will be taking some serious time off. Like the Thursday and Friday before Memorial Day. And hopefully I'll be writing up a storm and get back on track.

I'm sorry for letting everyone down.
